Science forms part of the core curriculum at Years 7 and 8 and becomes part of the elective programs in Years 9 and 10. In years 7 and 8 the focus is on hands on, practical, problem solving activities which build core skills, concepts and understandings of students in preparation for the more specific Science courses in Years 9 and 10.
Courses in Year 9 offer a more applied approach, working around issues of concern to students both at school and in our community. The main emphasis at this level is on developing scientific skills. Courses in Year 10 provide the foundation for further studies at VCE and tackle current ethical / moral issues within the field of Science both locally and throughout the world.
Students who are considering any form of Science as a possible career are highly advised to take at least two Science electives each year in Years 9 and 10 in preparation for their studies at VCE.
